I couldn’t sleep, so instead I screen grabbed a few shots of the back to the future truck that was part of Toyota’s “ !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ” !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Yes I’m excited about !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but what I was REALLY looking forward to was this. Its actually better looking than I was hoping, Andrew was right... !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

A few skid plates, some round bar, a few lights and a leveling kit do wonders to an already pretty good looking little truck.

You know, even if Toyota was just running with the movie to get some cheap publicity, they should make this as an available/factory installed kit from TRD. This looks awesome.

The amber taillights make this think look about 20 years older.

I would totally buy one of those if they offered them to the public.

I'm torn, myself... not sure I like it. The amber part is so big.

Pickup truck light bars need to make a comeback. I hope this sparks that comeback.

Sweet! The block TOYOTA on the tailgate looks just like the ‘94 pickup I used to have. Needs more solid front axle though.

People would buy it. Especially if they broke it up into a few different packages. Split up the bumper, the bed cage, and the wheels + lift.

I think it looks great. But then again as a kid I thought the original looked great too. I have no doubt Toyota could sell these.

You know, KNOW that these are going to be offered by DeeZee or some other company as a brush bar bumper, a tube rear bumper, and a bed bar set. (although I would hope that the bed bar has longer diagonal braces... they look cooler, and would be more structurally viable with more of a fastback profile, although the short-diagonal is a bit more accurate for the 85 replica version.

Lift kits are readily available, as likely will be skid plates, and black wheels are very much in fashion for 4x4s and almost everything.

KC now has LED lights... an probably still yellow stone guard covers for them..

They look better than 2015 or 2016 OE tail lights. With LED elements, including amber LED turn signals... it could be a great mix of 2015 and 1985... and anybody making aftermarket lighting like that may actually sell some. Everything old is new again.

Which isn’t saying much.

Anyway, I think the biggest issue with the new lights is the red-on-clear look everyone seems obsessed with right now, as opposed to clear-on-red.

Don't think much of the Canyon lights either. Which is really annoying, because I prefer its looks to the Colorado overall...

To me, it makes it look more like the HiLux in the rest of the world, which I’m ok with.

Agreed. I am not even opposed to ones that mount to the bed sides, and leave the bed volume unimpeded. They don’t provide as much strength as new structural cabs anyway.... they are pretty much decorative and a mounting point for lights.

I actually have thought about a step-side, (like say, a GMT400 step-side) with an EXTERNAL bed bar, that fastens through holes in the steps fore and aft of the rear fender flares, and looks like a bit of an exoskeleton on the back of the truck, with the tubes on the outside of the bed sides.... perhaps with some oval-section tubing in a gray bead-blasted finish. Could look good on a street truck, or a mildly-lifted 4x4, standard or extended cab.

This truck is full of win. I mean, they’re pandering to the 5-year old me who saw the movie when it came out, but hey, sometimes I like being pandered to.

To me, it looks like a mid-90's Toyota pickup. Which I really don't give a damn about, it just looks old.

I could get down with that!

If I got one, I would get one that mounts to the bedside. They don’t look as cool, but I’m not willing to sacrifice the ability to slide a 4x8 sheet of plywood into the bed for looks.
